Dear friends,
Internationally the world celebrates Mandela Day, and the legacy of our former president, Nelson Mandela, on his birthday, the 18th of July. On Mandela Day, we honour how Nelson Mandela
re-shaped South Africa, and we are all encouraged to ask:
How can I use my voice to make the world a better place?
Mandela often spoke about how highly he thought of children and young people and felt inspired by their presence:
On this day, we would like to celebrate Mandela by celebrating YOU! You are unique and special, and you have a valuable contribution to make to the world
“One way we can build a better future for our children is by empowering them by allowing them to speak up for themselves. The rights of children must, importantly, include the right to be themselves and talk about themselves.”
- Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela encouraged children to speak up for themselves and to share their thoughts and opinions with the world. We've created a downloadable worksheet where you can share how you can use your voice to make the world a better place.
With love,
Team Otto Foundation
