
PROJECTS AT ZONNEBLOEM

The Sunflower Learning Centre
The Sunflower Learning Centre is a shared library for Zonnebloem Girls’ and Boys’ Primary schools, established by the Otto Foundation Trust in 2016.


Placemaking Projects
Through our partnership with a local design studio, See Saw Do, we are implementing playful spatial upgrade projects on the Zonnebloem Estate.


Zonnebloem School
Feeding Scheme
The Otto Foundation established a school kitchen on the Zonnebloem Estate, and is partnering with the Peninsula School Nutrition Programme to feed breakfast and lunch to 160 learners every school day.


Computer Centre
In 2018, the Otto Foundation worked in partnership with The Click Foundation to established a computer centre with 40 workstations at Zonnebloem Girls’ Primary School.


Community Keepers
Our partner organisation, Community Keepers, offers on-site psychological and social services available to learners, educators, parents and guardians.


Music Works
The Otto Foundation Trust has partnered with MusicWorks to offer their Music for Life programme at Zonnebloem.


Teacher Resources
and Building Capacity
Teacher training and capacity building needs are identified in consultation with the schools’ management teams, and the Otto Foundation then works with training partners to offer skills development courses that address the identified needs.


PLANTING THE SEEDS
Through our work at the Zonnebloem schools, we are learning valuable lessons and have built a network of partners that would allow us to replicate impactful programmes elsewhere.


The Liyabona Library
The Otto Foundation Trust has been partnering with The Bookery and our co-sponsors Kamvalethu, to establish a school library at Holy Cross Primary School .


The Protea Library
The Otto Foundation partnered with the Kamvalethu Foundation to establish a new school library at Walmer Estate Primary School .
