Computer Centre

What

In 2018 and 2019, the Otto Foundation partnered with The Click Foundation to establish two computer centre with 40 workstations each at Zonnebloem Girls’ and Boys' Primary Schools.

A full-time facilitator has been appointed to guide learners in using the available programmes and developing their computer literacy.

The centre is used for extended learning opportunities, including:

  • Reading Eggs

  • MathSeeds

  • GreenShoots

  • Visual learning and research.

Why

  • The centre helps us to equip learners with '21st century skills'.

  • In the foundation phase there is a strong focus on promoting literacy and numeracy.

  • In the intermediate phase the focus is on maintaining and developing literacy and numeracy, whilst incorporating research and presentation skills and typing.

  • Educators use the centre to access online resources.

How can you help us

  • Donors - help us to fund the operational costs of the computer labs.

  • Literacy organisations - come and tell us about your learning support programmes, and how they could be used to boost our learners' literacy and numeracy skills.

to imagine a future with infinite possibilities, and equip them with the skills that they will need to build that future”.
